Out with the new, in with the old…

I designed my first personal logo back in 2007… The result I came up with back then was heavily font based and very very grounded in the times.
Gradients, bold color schemes, floral backdrops, modern fonts, …

Which all lead it to be very very dated by 2010-2011 ish… By then I started working in the wine industry and the design was pushed to the backburner and the logo remained the way it was till 2016.

As a designer I think my work should speak for itself, and I should not try to steal its thunder…

So the new logo had to be a strong and recognisable one, that – this time – would stand the test of time… But also never distract from the work it would go with and at the same time it had to supplement it…

So…

I took back to tried old techniques …

  1. a strong and readable but slightly understated font (sinhala MN) in both bold and light made for a strong brand name
  2. a geometric logo based on my initials
  3. black is timeless

You’ve seen the result around here without a doubt… I myself am very pleased with it 🙂
